Baldwin Art and Academics Magnet Reviews

Here is honest and 100% accurate feedback. It is a good school. I especially like they are tough on drug users, good discipline and pro-active in teaching life lessons. I stop paying 10K a year per child for the best private education in Montgomery just to come to Baldwin. My child has a better shot at Ivy League vs his former private school. I have found private schools overrated and ironically drugs are more available. God Bless Baldwin.

This school is awesome!!!!!! I love it and it's awesome!!! It's my second year at baldwin and I love it!!!!!!!!!!!

Baldwin is the best school you can ever go to! It has fun electives. Some of the classes may be hard but it is worth it because you get a good education and that is the best reward ever. The only bad part about Baldwin is P.E. The coaches are strict but they gert you in shape and sometimes it can be fun. We play all types of sports: volleybal, pickellbal, basketball, bowling, and much more. So I would encourage you to go to Baldwin and have the time of your life. P.S. This is my 2nd year. - -April G.

Unbelieveable school. This is my child's second year at Baldwin, and it is better than I ever imagined it would be. The academics are challenging and the children are hard working. High expectations from the teachers and parents. My sons loves school and works hard on his school work so he can remain at Baldwin. We are lucky to be a part of such a great program.

My son graduated from BAAMS on the academic side. It was rough at the start but he got a tremendous quality education there. We moved from Georgia where he was in the Honors system there. We realized how poorly he was being educated there (we thought everything as fine) when we got to BAAMS and they started teaching him real stuff.

I urge the ones considering Baldwin as their school to choose a private school instead. The gym programs are the only challenging system relatively compared to other schools in the nation. The school boasts its numerous arts programs and other programs; however, i am afraid that I have to say that they are speaking of quantities rather than qualities.

I am a former student of Baldwin, and I was in the Arts Track there. I have never done anything that could better my life more than when I enrolled in Baldwin. I am a senior enrolled in BTW Magnet High School now, and I suggest Baldwin to anyone with a special kid who is smart, willing to learn, and excited about school. Baldwin not only has a great principal, good teachers, and awesome programs but Baldwin has a great atmosphere. I love Baldwin, I was in Theatre and Musical Theatre when I was there, at BTW I am in Technical Theatre, something I learned from the outstanding Drama Teacher, Ms. Boulware. I plan on doing what I was challenged to do at Baldwin as a career and make a considerable amount of money doing it. Baldwin is the reason I am going to have a good, fun, and fulfilling life.

Baldwin is a great school! I'm in the academics program, and while it is very difficult most times, the teachers are wonderful. They actually care about the students and helping them grow and learn. I am very privellaged to be a student there. Before sending your kids to private school, send them here and you will not regret it!

This school has changed my child's outlook on school and life. He is in the academic program, and finally around some kids he has something in common with. He can go to school and be a part of a classroom where he can focus on the lesson, and not have to try to focus in spite of constant distractions from other students. He loves school now, and doesn't have to hide his homework, etc., so it doesn't get stolen or copied. Bravo to Baldwin.

Overall a great school, with most of the teachers being really good.

We have two children enrolled in Baldwin. This is the first year our kids have actually been educated, in my opinion. The teachers and staff are encouraging and challenge the kids to be the best they can be. At first it seems overwhelming if you have not been exposed to a true education. There is a lot of homework from some teachers. My kids are learning now..not memorizing for a test. We transferred from a local school system which is considered one of the best. Back then, we helped our kids memorize test answers. Now we help them prepare for college. The sounds of classical guitars, 11 year olds speaking French, and a true understanding of the subjects they are being taught are very fulfilling in our home. It is hard work. Very hard work. It ain't for everybody. We are grateful for the opportunity.

Baldwin is great! Emphasis is on reading, writing an oral communication. Extensive use of books and comprehension of terminology is key to application in the real world educational. Testing and testing often is the only way this school is able to keep out troublemakers, bullies and parents who encourage bullies to beat up academically oriented children. We have a troubled Public School System and all public schools should be modeled after the magnet programs. If it were not for Baldwin...many would live on credit cards so theu can send their children to Montgomery Academy (15K annually). I have found the faculty eager to assist my child in weak areas and proactive. Magnet teachers should get a raise!

Emphasis is on the text book and other educational opportunities were rare. Homework is excessive. Testing and academic excellence are the only focus without regard for the successful development of the whole child. Parents are reminded frequently how lucky they are that their child was accepted at Baldwin, rather than the student being recognized for their successes and work. The student statistics at Baldwin show a ray of hope for Montgomery public schools, but do not be mislead by statistics alone. If you are new to the area or considering Baldwin, I urge you to consider the private schools instead.

Baldwin is like two great schools for the price of one : arts and academics. The arts track includes the options of taking choral, band, strings, classical guitar, drama, visual arts, piano, creative writing, or dance. The academic component offers three levels of technology classes and Spanish, French, German, and Latin. The opoortunities for students at Baldwin are limitless. The school maintains a rigorous phyiscal education program in which students are challenged to the maximum. The PTSA is active and effective. Although the school building BAldwin is housed in is downtown and was built in 1909, the school itself is fantastic. Any parent that wants their child to succeed in grades 6-8 and realizes that a traditional middle school IS HUST NOT WORKING FOR YOUR CHILD needs to put BAldwin Arts and Academics Magnet at the top of its consideration list.

Baldwin is a great magnet school. The diverse enviornment allows students to acknowledge each others cultures as well as traditions. The teachers do whatever they can to help the students there, whether it's arranging tutoring sessions or hands-on problems where the teacher and the student complete the problems together. The principal is never 'missing' and can be seen walking through the halls and interacting with students throughout the day.The P.E. coach is exceptionally well he adapts to each student's personality and makes physical education fun for everyone. I would recommend Baldwin for anybody who is willing to learn mentally, physically, and socially.

I was disappointed this year. Parents were not informed when a child was border line of not returning back. After numerous visits to the counselor, the cumulative GPA was not thoroughly explained. Red flags were not waved after the 3rd nine weeks, which was a very critical point. Parents very concerned the entire year, follow up, by requesting weekly progress reports to stay abreast of grades, and find out they were not fully informed is a mis sight on the counselor and the parents part, then to find out that classes were offered on GPA, all parents were not aware of it. Parents beware of this. Baldwin did not have the letters prepared for non returning students ready on the last day of school. They were mailed 3 weeks after school was out. Numerous calls, and assurance of not receiving a letter by 2 weeks assured child they made it. Balwin made a mistake and mailed 3rd week after school was out.

Baldwin is a good school. It probably is the best school in Montgomery County. We have various activities, like drama, choral, strings, guitar and more that are a part of the 'arts' students' curriculum. The teachers are good at their jobs. The PTSA provides the school with fundraisers that buy computers, printers, and copiers. I am glad I attend this school.

Baldwin is the best middle school in Montgomery! Over my past two years and now going into my third I have learned tons!! The teachers and faculty are great and can easily explain all your questions.

This is a terrific magnet school that allows bright and talented children to focus on their strengths and receive a well rounded education. Faculty members are outstanding, very concerned about teaching, and quick to respond to parents.
